Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Led Zeppelin’s legendary performances at Madison Square Garden!
To all my fellow Zeppelin fans…
These performances were recorded on July 27, 28, and 29, 1973, and were later included in the 1976 concert film The Song Remains the Same.

With regards to the Madison Square Garden concerts, Zeppelin’s performances of “The Rain Song” and 1971’s “Stairway to Heaven” as shown in the aforementioned concert film are iconic. I most enjoy the live version of “The Rain Song” that accompanies the film’s fantasy sequences and vignettes. This version is different than the one included in the band’s remastered soundtrack.
Led Zeppelin also released their iconic album “Houses of the Holy” a few months before, on March 28, 1973. Houses of the Holy became a commercial success, later receiving a Diamond certification (over 10 million albums sold) by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). All of the songs on the album are memorable, including “Dancing Days”, “D'yer Mak'er”, “The Ocean”, “Over the Hills and Far Away”, and “The Rain Song” [my personal favorite].
Paying homage… Me, my guitar, and my iPhone.
“My journey to musical rediscovery was also spurred along by spending time at some great vintage record stores, stores that became my museums. Each album cover, photograph, tapestry, or tour t-shirt came with a story; they were tangible pieces of history. There was something truly mystical about learning to play a few of Jimmy Page’s riffs and songs of Led Zeppelin while seated next to my black and white wall tapestry that showcased some of the band’s iconic imagery.”
